Prerequisites
Before starting, you'll need:
- A Web3 wallet (MetaMask recommended)
- Government-issued ID for KYC
- Some USDC on Polygon network (or ETH to bridge)
- Email address
Step 1: Install MetaMask
If you don't have MetaMask:
- Visit metamask.io
- Install browser extension
- Create new wallet and save seed phrase securely
- Add Polygon network (MetaMask will prompt you)
Step 2: Visit Polymarket
- Go to polymarket.com
- Click "Sign Up" or "Connect Wallet"
- Select MetaMask from wallet options
- Approve connection in MetaMask popup
Step 3: Complete KYC Verification
Polymarket requires identity verification:
- Enter your email address
- Verify email via confirmation link
- Provide personal information (name, DOB, address)
- Upload government ID (passport or driver's license)
- Take selfie for facial verification
- Wait for approval (usually 10-30 minutes)
Important: US residents cannot use Polymarket due to regulatory restrictions.
Step 4: Fund Your Account
You need USDC on Polygon network:
Option A: Buy USDC directly
- Use a centralized exchange (Coinbase, Kraken)
- Buy USDC
- Withdraw to your MetaMask address on Polygon network
Option B: Bridge from Ethereum
- Have USDC on Ethereum mainnet
- Use Polygon Bridge (polygon.technology/bridge)
- Bridge USDC from Ethereum to Polygon
- Wait 7-8 minutes for confirmation
Option C: Use Polymarket's on-ramp
- Click "Deposit" in Polymarket
- Choose credit card or bank transfer
- Complete purchase (fees apply)
Step 5: Deposit to Polymarket
- Once USDC is in your MetaMask (Polygon network)
- Go to Polymarket and click "Deposit"
- Enter amount to deposit
- Approve transaction in MetaMask
- Wait for confirmation

- Never share your seed phrase
- Use a hardware wallet for large amounts
